Sometimes People Really Surprise You …

September 17, 2008

My mother-in-law just came into our room and gave me an (early) birthday present — a gift certificate to my favorite store, Ann Taylor Loft, with the sweetest note. I was so touched; my husband must have told her where to go … but I am just beside myself.

She also apologized for the duration of her visit and genuinely seemed to understand the imposition she put us in, but I made sure she knew we were happy to have her. I don’t want them going back with her feeling sad.

So here’s to making the final two days good ones!

P.S.: I’ve also not chewed-and-spit anything today. Success!! :)

What a sweet gesture. I’m so glad you could appreciate it for what it was. And I’m also glad you are down to two days before getting your life back:) Yay for the no chew-n-spit!

How sweet of her! It helps us realize that even though family can be a pain in neck sometimes, they still have the best intentions and wants what’s best for us. We don’t always have to see eye-to-eye and be happy with them all the time, but we do have something in common with our in-laws, and that’s the most important person in our lives.

Thanks, ladies! It’s the little gestures that help. I try to remember that when I bring her home things I know she likes, but this was totally unexpected!

That is so great, Liss! What a nice reminder that behind all of the annoyance is the mother of your wonderful husband, who obviously cares about you deeply. And what a way to make the last few days sweet.
