Scraptaculous Friday!
April 24, 2009
Tonight after work, I’m going to an all-night crop-fest with some friends, and I can’t wait!
For anyone not “in the know,” cropping is another word used for scrapbooking. Last fall, I shared a little about my love for scrapbooking and how it’s something that not only keeps me occupied, but is also thoroughly rewarding.
I don’t do it as often as I’d like–mostly because I have sooooooooo many pics (the downside of digital cameras) and that it always takes me so long to set up my “tools” and envision a page … but once I get on a roll … steer clear, folks!
A ton of us like-minded women will crop from 7-12 in a gym in Grand Rapids — I really can’t wait. There will be pizza, salad, desserts galore … but I’m honestly not concerned about any of that. I’ll enjoy a little of everything in moderation, and then go back to focusing on the purpose of our gathering: the craft!
I usually only manage about a dozen pages during these events, but I get lots of ideas and it gives me inspiration for future pages.
How about you? Is there a hobby you miss that you’d like to revisit?

Drawing. I actually majored in art but haven’t picked up a pencil and sketchbook in several years.

i’m like you - it takes me awhile to get organized and inspired, but once i’m past that point, i’m on fire! i think for that reason i enjoy making cards more than scrapbooking…i know i can make only one card and i’m finished if i want to be, whereas with scrapping i never really feel “done”. have a great night!!

I can get lost in there too Clare — I did at lunch yesterday!! Had to race back!!
I wish I could draw, Inmytummy!! I’m good at making birds and trees, that’s about it!
Oooh card-making, now that’s a great idea, Auntie!! And I agree–I’m never done; I am still 2 yrs behind as we speak! Albums would be so much easier, but they aren’t as much fun.

I miss scrapbooking so much! I did it a lot in high school and somehow it just slipped away once I was in college. I was never hard-core but I did find it so enjoyable. Maybe I’ll take it up and scrapbook my wedding…
