HELP

My blog was created to help me — and other people like me — who are struggling with disordered eating issues and eating disorders to manage them and someday, hopefully overcome them.

I am not an expert or a professional, just a woman who understands. Blogotherapy and traditional cognitive behavioral therapy with Dr. G are changing my life, one day at a time — and each person needs to find what path is most effective for him/her, typically through trial and error.

Because awareness of a problem is the first step in any recovery process, I recommend confiding in a trusted friend or loved one and seeking professional help — be it from a therapist, a doctor, a nutritionist, an in-patient or out-patient facility … or a combination of these.

Please know you don’t need to go it alone. There are professionals who can help you, who are ready to listen.

Here are some online resources that I hope will help you get the help you need.

National Eating Disorder Association

Binge Eating Disorder Association

National Association for Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Eating Disorders

Multiservice Eating Disorders Association>/a>

Something Fishy: Website on Eating Disorders

International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals

Eating Disorders Online: Orthorexia

If you know of another non-profit organization or other institution that I should add to this list, please let me know. This is just a preliminary listing.

Sincerely and with great care,
Melissa
