Rachel’s Wickedly Delicious Cottage Cheese
March 30, 2009
My blog is not a food blog, and I don’t typically do product reviews … but every now and then I come across something worth sharing with my readers.
Today is one of those days. Recently, I found a yummy protein-packed, no-fake-sugar delight and wanted to share with you all: Rachel’s Wickedly Delicious Cottage Cheese.
Has anyone else fallen in love with this? I was soooo excited to see it at my local grocery store and again at Whole Foods in Ann Arbor this weekend.
I haven’t tried her yogurt line yet, but now I’m going to now. if it’s half as good as the cottage cheese, she’ll have a new fan!
It’s funny, but even as a kid, I LOVED cottage cheese — with pineapple, or plain, by itself. I didn’t know it was labeled a “diet food” until much, much later in life and even then, I didn’t care. I liked it, darn it!!
My one problem with cottage cheese has always been an economic one: the need to partition out a portion from the tub, which is much cheaper than the single-serve containers.
And even when they’re on sale, I don’t but the Breakstone’s cottage cheeses with fruit anymore because they’re loaded with sugar … And so these new Rachel’s cottage cheeses — which were on sale when I got them — come in yogurt cups, so they’re perfect for on the go snacking.
And unlike those mini servings of cottage cheese you usually see, this is actually a hefty serving, one with staying power. With 14 grams of protein a serving and only 130 calories, it’s actually a good bang for your nutritional buck (to me).
The flavors I’ve tried are two of the sweet ones (pomegranate orange cranberry and pear mangosteen), but she also has savory options like roasted red pepper and cucumber dill.
How about you? Have you tried these? Did you like them?

Yum. Like you, I loved cottage cheese as a kid. I didn’t even know it was a “diet food” until well into my anorexia. Ha. I haven’t seen these at my local store, but I may have to look more closely. Thanks

oops just saw that you posted the link to the company and they have the info on their site. I love cottage cheese and also never thought of it as a “diet food”. I eat it in my oats, in omelettes, on baked potatoes or just straight up.

I have only seen their yogurt products. The problem with all the cottage cheese I find is their sodium content!

I agree, it’s usually very high in salt but this tastes pretty sweet. They seem to have about 380 mg … still high, but the protein content is worth it to me.

I live in the UK and have been dying to get my American friends to try this yogurt, it is the BEST I have ever eaten. And I eat a LOT of yogurt.

11. Green Eggs, Anyone? &laqu&hellip | April 9, 2009 at 7:22 pm
[...] Tonight I was alone for dinner (hubby plays on a racquetball league on Thursday nights). So after a grueling gym session (and with limited food options available because of Passover, plus not having much food at home since I’m going away) I made protein-packed “green eggs” … and had them with a side of protein-packed Rachel’s Pear and Mangosteen cottage cheese.
