Happy Birthday, Mom!
February 12, 2009
Today is my mom’s birthday and I wanted to give her a shout-out here on the board for two big reasons.
First, it’s she who inspired me to join WW back in 2004, following her success on the program. She’s always believed in me, and tried to instill confidence in me that I’m awesome as I am.
Second, my mom has been a huge support system for me as I’ve come clean about my disordered eating issues. I know she’s my number one fan, and I’m hers. Over the years, she’s stood by me in good times and in bad, and she loves me unconditionally. She is, in many ways, my best friend.
I am truly blessed.
Bonds like those between mother-child or father-child are unbreakable … and often unexplainable. Sadly, in the past few years, several of my closest friends have lost one of their parents, and there’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think of them and their anguish; I wish I could take their pain away and bring their loved ones back.
I know I am lucky and blessed to have mine in my life, even if they are far away in distance. And so today, Mom, I wanted to thank you and tell you I love you. Thank you, for you.
XOXOX, Lissa
PS– And hope you like the kitten presenting the cupcake — it’s not Beatrice or Eugenie (my parents “princesses”/kittens) but I thought the image was precious!

How lucky am I??? I spent a lot of time today reflecting on the “defining moments” of my 50+ years, and 3 of the most profound defining moments are the birth of my three incredible children. Each, in your own way, has taught me so much about life, about myself and about the joys of being your mom. I love you Lis, my first born, my “Shunshine”. Thank you.

Aw thanks Mama!! I love you, too — thanks for letting us teach you, and for teaching us. We’re truly blessed.
