Weekend Challenge: State Yours Here!
September 19, 2008
I thought I’d keep today’s post light and sweet. It’s Friday, after all, and today is the day my in-laws leave, after five long, anxiety-laced weeks.
During therapy last night, Dr. G. complimented me on how far I’ve come in handling such flooding and accepting deprivation with grace.
It wasn’t easy and I wasn’t perfect, but I know when we say goodbye at O’Hare around 2:00 Sat. morning (their flight is at 3:00 a.m.) I will be able to feel redeemed with my behavior and my improvements … and more open to whatever obstacles life throws at me in the future.
And so on that note, let’s make some fun weekend challenges!! Mine is in two parts.
First, I will be to complete a five-day cycle of no chewing-and-spitting. Wednesday and Thursday were good days!! I’d love to report on Monday a full five-day trend.
And second, I will be kind to myself this weekend. If I am tired and don’t feel like exercising, I am not going to push myself. My mind and body are exhausted at the moment. But if it turns out a workout is exactly what the doctor ordered, well, I’ll be listening to Dr. Melissa!
More than anything, I really just want to get back in tune with myself, and with my husband. We’ve had not a second alone these five weeks really, so it will be wonderful to just have each other.
How about you? How will you challenge yourself this weekend?

Good for you Melissa! You made it! And how fast did 5 weeks go? time flies–I feel like you were just blogging about the beginning of their stay with you! You’re awesome!
My goal this weekend is to not binge–I’m going to be working at the job I did this summer (golf course–so its still open) and I had a really hard time with food while i worked there…so my goal is to stay in control.
Have a GREAT weekend…can’t wait to report back!

We are all proud of you Liss!! You can get to 5 days, I have faith in you!
My goal this weekend - should be pretty easy as I am at work right now (Saturday!) and have no big going-out plans - is to stay under 30 points for today and tomorrow - since my trip Thursday and Indian food last night used up all of my flex points!

My goal this weekend is to apply for as many jobs as possible (maybe that’s too big a goal? because I’ll constantly feel like I’m not doing enough? let’s say at least three jobs a day) and clean/organize my room and apartment.
I feel like the chaos and financial distress is leaking into every part of my life… leaving me sad, stressed, and frustrated. It’s not good for the mind, body, or soul. Hopefully weekend’s end will find me more relaxed.

How wonderful for you! My goal is to be calm and kind to myself at the barbecue I’m going to today and to stick to only having one light beer. And to enjoy conversation more than food.
